2 Steps Forward, 1 Step Back

Today was a really bad day for monkey watching. The monkeys moved into what I will now call the crappy donga. The donga where the Blesbok groups ranges is split by the road. On one side there is a decent visibility and maneuverability throughout the donga, but on the other side the monkeys become impossible to follow. The crappy donga runs about ten minutes from the raod and then splits into the hidden donga (which is a 30 minute hike to the sleeping spot) and the magic donga (a ten minute hike). Basically, if they go farther then the split there is no way we are going to follow them. The group stayed in the crappy donga all day and we were not able to collect any poop samples and only got 2 hours of behavioral data. Not only that, we were left questioning some of the identifications we have been making, so we quite possibly lost data today.
